Our representative in the Kangemi Slums - Gladys Mwaniki
Gladys Mwaniki has been working with us since 2022 and has since counseled 1,836 girls in the slums of Nairobi on the topics of period hygiene, sexuality and contraception. As a dedicated social worker, her focus is on schools in the Kangemi slum. She regularly visits seven primary schools in this area and closely supervises the female pupils.
After her counseling sessions, Gladys distributes reusable hygiene articles to the poorest schoolgirls. This enables them to attend classes regularly. Gladys also visits the needy girls at home and involves the parents in her educational work.
We support Gladys in her important work by developing concepts together, supporting her activities financially and providing the necessary hygiene articles.
